Go North East extends Bargain Bus services

In the first partnership of its kind in the region, Go North East has teamed up with Blyth-based taxi company, Phoenix Taxis to give its Bargain Bus passengers the opportunity to pay for a taxi in advance to start or finish their bus journey.

To use the combined Bargain Bus and taxi service, passengers will be able to pay a single add-on price at the start of their journey – whether they choose to begin their journey by taxi or Bargain Bus.

The new service is part of a series of improvements to Bargain Bus starting on Monday, November 24, including two new routes to Ashington and Morpeth and the introduction of single deck, low floor buses on most journeys.

The new Bargain Bus services will each operate hourly from Newcastle’s Haymarket Bus Station with service X44 travelling to Morpeth via Stannington Station and Stobhill and service X45 travelling to Ashington via Stannington Village, Loansdean, Morpeth and Pegswood.  Both services together will provide a service every 30 minutes to Morpeth..

The new services join the well-established Bargain Buses X42 and X43 to Blyth which will continue to operate every half an hour.  Together with X44 and X45 they buses provide a bus every 15 minutes between Seaton Burn and Newcastle.

To mark the improvements to the service and to celebrate the Bargain Bus reputation for great fare deals, Go North East is also offering passengers the opportunity to buy any single fare on Bargain Bus for just £1 on Monday, November 24, Wednesday, November 26 and Wednesday, December 3.

Brand new everyday bargain fares will also be on offer on Bargain Bus including a new £4 day ticket and a £14 weekly ticket, with additional, regular special offers including buy one get one free and discount vouchers.
