Washington Galleries
Go North East is the main bus operator and manager of the new bus station at Washington Galleries, bringing thousands of passengers a day to work, shop or connect with other bus services.
With more than 5,000 buses a week serving the new bus station - including the modern, stylish Red Arrows Mercedes and the local Street Shuttle services – the Galleries is an important interchange point for people from all over the region.
The new bus station has automatic doors providing improved passenger safety and a comfortable waiting area, electronic bus service information as well as escalator, lift and stair access to the Galleries. A new toilet for disabled people has also been provided.
To ensure that we provide a first class service we have appointed a dedicated manager, Graeme Hall. New services led by Graeme will include on-the-spot lost property checks and PA announcements to keep passengers fully informed, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and having direct contact with site security.
Graeme will be on duty in the bus station between 10.30am and 7pm, with other staff available from 7am until 7pm on Monday to Friday and from 10am until 6pm on Saturdays.
We also have a new Travel Centre which will be open from 8am until 5pm on Monday to Friday and between 8.30am and 2pm on Saturdays.
If you have a comments or suggestions about the bus station, travel centre or any of the services we provide you can contact a member of our customer services team on 0845 60 60 260 or write to Go North East Customer Services, Freepost NT2674, Gateshead, NE8 1BR.
